Please paste the broadcast script you wrote in class on Sept. 10 based on the news wire report here. Beijing (AP)—China will face difficulties in Europe, the Europe Union’ trade chief warns on Tuesday, if China doesn’t improve market access or better protect intellectual property right. EU Trade commissioner says China has greater responsibility to apply the rules for its growing economic might. Both the EU and China have to commit to openness and resist protectionist pressure. He is on a four-day trip to China began on Tuesday and will meet with Vice premier.
ASSIGNMENT THREE
Please paste the Obituary assignment here. Beijing (XinHua) — the world wide known philanthropist Yuna passes away on May 6th, 2061 in Beijing. She has just spent her 75th birthday with all the people she ever helped. Her leaders say “From the blind children to the poor elderly persons, she believes that she has the obligation to do something for them. She feels happy in that way” At the age of 24, Yuna graduated from the University and became an editor in a TV station. Since the first month, Yuna began to contribute money to people who deadly need them and she never gave up. Two years later, a small hospital was built beside the TV station. It seems to remind her to continue her charity work. She kept on calling for people through TV programs to help others. And then a second hospital was built in Gansu. Until now, there have been over 1000 hospitals all over the world dedicate to help poor people. Yuna’s friends say “she works day and night because she is not living for herself but for so many people who are struggling for life.” Yuna ever met with twelve presidents for invitation, she always says “I am not working for the poor or disable people, I am working for those who are too frugal to contribute one cent. I hope I can set an example for them.” She says in public repeatly “we have the equal chance for life, if the God forget that, as human beings, we should remember to give a hand to those who are forgot by the God.”
ASSIGNMENT FOUR
Write three pitches that you and some classmates can actually produce with the time and resources available to you.
The audience will be English speaking You Tube viewers. Your pitch should offer them something they cannot see elsewhere. This means slice of life and human interest stories are OK, but try to come up with some hard issue pieces or stories related to breaking news as well. Foreigners love to hear about: The Olympics, counterfeit or dangerous products, the environment and global warming, martial arts, student trends, China's economy, interesting tourist destinations, and anything unusual or surprising. Think about a story you would like to hear about in another country, and try it here.
1. the price of the meat gets higher and higher, China says it will be better and they have take action for that. But how the advanced foreigners think about that. I will interview the famous economist in the US and let them offer some ideas that are strange and unknown for chinese. The shot will include their imagination and guess and the material to certify their ideas.
2. the army of the US has lived in Iraq for months, when presient bush withdrows some of them, how the others think about that and their real feeling about his policy in Iraq.Did they will fight against the policy of Bush like citizens in the US. the shot will focus on the situation of the army and their real feelings.
3.As the date of election in Taiwan coming whether the mainland will choose one of the party to surport and make something related to the relationship. the shot will emphasis on the thought of the government of the mainland and the citizens.
Also think about the big stories in the world, and look for a Chinese connection. Are there Iraqi students here? Does China have an Islamic insurgency? What do Chinese students think about the US presidential race? Who is in charge at the Palestian Embassy here now that the Palestinians have split amid civil war?
Your pitch should include the names of the people you plan to interview, and the shots you plan to include.
Assignment five When I first read this news, I was very surprised and concerned my daily life. I think that is the aim of this piece of news. But when I read it for the second or third time, I find what this piece of news express is the US criticism and exposure about “Chinese fault”. I doubt whether it is fair or not, because I know that US is “focusing more attention” on the security of Chinese food, while this news just come from the US. So we should think whether it is one of those kinds of news.
WHY DO YOU SAY THE CRITICISM IN THIS NEWS COMES FROM THE US, WHEN NOT ONE US OFFICIAL IS USED AS A SOURCE?
SECOND, IS CRITICIZING CHINA SOMEHOW "UNFAIR"?
. The source of the this piece of news is rich including Chinese farmer, Some experts, both inside and outside China, Juan Lubroth, head of infectious diseases for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, based in Rome, China's central government, Yanzhong Huang, editor of the Journal of Global Health Governance and an assistant professor at Seton Hall University.Vincent Martin, an animal health officer for the FAO in Beijing, Mao Changqing, an analyst with CITIC Securities in Beijing, Chinese officials, a new online scientific journal called PLoS ONE, Chen Qingming, secretary general of the pig breeding division of China's Association of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Hoang Van Nam, deputy director of Vietnam's animal health department and some others. Many sources inside and outside China and experts or farmers they have experienced this event are enough to certify this news. But we can say that it is the foreigners who are talking about the serious matter happened in China. In order to avoid the Chinese official’s exculpation, this news only let the authoritative foreigners say what Chinese official has said, except that some Chinese farmer describes the serious matter they have faced. To some extent, I think what the farmer has said is not credible, while the news just invited one or two farmers to summarize what have happened and how serious it is. Such as “Lo said he threw the bodies in a nearby river. He said it was common practice. On a recent weekday afternoon, a single bloated, purple pig carcass was floating near the southern bank”. I don’t think Chinese farmers foolish enough and all throw the sick pigs to the river. They at least concern about their own health and living condition. And a died pig appeared near the bank can not prove that “it was common practice”.
WHY DON'T YOU BELIEVE THE FARMER? WHY WOULD HE LIE?
In the news, what the Chinese government have done or undone is not actice. I think it is a kind of unfairness. The news only choose the dark side to prove that China has made the problem more seriously.
Such as China provide the vaccine for other counties. The news points out that it is for interest. China has pasted laws to control the pig market and let the problem be solved quickly, while the news emphasis on Chinese severe punishment for the farmers who did not report the problem.
THE POINT OF THE STORY IS NOT THAT CHINA IS NOT TRYING HARD TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE POINT IS THAT CHINA IS NOT COOPERATING WITH THE REST OF THE WORLD TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM, AND CHINA'S EFFORTS APPEAR TO BE NOT REACHING AT LEAST SOME PIG FARMERS.
It is the choice of the words and the different content that make Chinese government seems very bad.
IS CONTENT THAT MAKES THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT SEEM LIKE IT IS FOLLOWING A BAD POLICY "BIASED"? DOES THIS MEAN THAT THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT ALWAYS FOLLOWS GOOD POLICY?
I think Chinese government dedicates to solve this problem quickly and peaceful while the news describe him as a conservative and impuissant government and it seems to just expand the influence of this matter instead of telling this news.
This news tells me that we should have enough sources to support one news and keep fair. I'M UNCLEAR ABOUT THIS CONCLUSION. DO YOU THINK THIS STORY WAS FAIR? IT SEEMS YOU DO NOT. APPARENTLY, IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW MANY SOURCES YOU HAVE, SINCE YOU WILL THINK THE WRITER IS BIASED AGAINST CHINA ANYWAY.
I ENJOYED YOUR ANALYSIS. GOOD JOB. I WISH YOU GAVE ME SOME QUESTIONS FOR THE REPORTER.
