A US official says the United States may ease regulations on American technology exported to China. But it should promise that they do not use it for military purposes.

A US high official says export controls are too broad and opaque in China. And some Chinese companies avoid buying technology from America altogether. But now under such promise, they can skip the bureacratic oversight on restricted techologies.

ASSIGNMENT THREE
Please paste the Obituary assignment here.

The Wendy Charity Fund holds its forty-fifth anniversary commemoration in Beijing Hotel. It is also the birthday of its founder Wendy’s 75 years old.

Wendy, born in Hebei Province, entered the Communication University of China in 2004, and graduated in 2008. Leaving the university, she worked in the 21 century, and devoted herself to the Olympic Games reports. From 2011 to 2012, she went abroad and studied in Columbia University. After that, she established her own media company named “Media Engine Company”, when she returned to China in 2013.

Wendy has ever told us giving others help could only made her feel satisfactory. And she thinks everybody can make money through many ways, but not everybody can be or will be helpful for others. Thus she founded her Wendy Charity Fund at the age 30. With 45 years passing, she has been an old lady aged 75. And the fund has helped 100,000 children return to school and 5500 people construct their family in Northwest of China. She says the fund is changing her all the time and makes her life special and wonderful. She hopes the fund can be lasting forever.

ASSIGNMENT FOUR
Write three pitches that you and some classmates can actually produce with the time and resources available to you.

The audience will be English speaking You Tube viewers. Your pitch should offer them something they cannot see elsewhere. This means slice of life and human interest stories are OK, but try to come up with some hard issue pieces or stories related to breaking news as well. Foreigners love to hear about: The Olympics, counterfeit or dangerous products, the environment and global warming, martial arts, student trends, China's economy, interesting tourist destinations, and anything unusual or surprising. Think about a story you would like to hear about in another country, and try it here.

Also think about the big stories in the world, and look for a Chinese connection. Are there Iraqi students here? Does China have an Islamic insurgency? What do Chinese students think about the US presidential race? Who is in charge at the Palestian Embassy here now that the Palestinians have split amid civil war?

Your pitch should include the names of the people you plan to interview, and the shots you plan to include.

My three pitches:
Pitch1:
The new semester of the University has started everywhere of the country. The students, who are going to their college, are happy. But some poor students are not, as they cannot afford the tuition. However, the students in Ningbo needn't worry this year. because there is a Contribution Center through which people can contribute money to them. And a person named Sheshe mailed a cheque for 136,000 yuan to the Center. But after checking it, we know it’s a false name.
Interviewee:
1.a contributor who are doing it. Ask him or her why he or she join the contribution.
2.the principal of the Center. Ask him about the anonym.
Shots:
1. the shot for the impassioned people contributing in the Center.
2. the shot for the cheque for the 136,000yuan.
3. the shot for a university gate, and there are many students entering it.

Pitch2:
All the teachers and students in the Communication University of China(CUC) are actively preparing for the Olympic Games. The teachers specially give the class to transmit the knowledge about the Olympic Games. The students must attend the class, if they want to be the volunteers. All over, they must go through the final exams in order to become the altimate volunteer.
Interviewee:
1. the students who want to be the volunteers. Ask them why they want to be the volunteer and how they think of the class and the exam.
2. the teachers in charge of the preparation for the Olympic Games.
Shots:
1. the shot for the class about the Olympic Games.
2. the scene of examination.

Pitch3:
The TRANSFORMERS, made in America, is showed in Chinese cinemas in 2007. Following the KING KONG, it is another imported film receiving a high box office. But people hold different opinions after seeing it. Some have fevered and cool feelings. On the contrary, some feel disappointed and think it’s just a production for commerce.
Interviewee:
the commen people seeing the film and holding different opinions.
Shots:
1. the shot for the poster of the TRANSFORMERS.
2. the shot for a few cinemas, including the films’ schedule and lots of people entering the cinemas.
3. the shot for interviewing the people.
