Summer graduated from Communication University of China and then went to the USA for further education with a master degree in Journalism. After finishing the study, she devoted herself as journalist in a local newspaper. Owing to she worked hard and accumulated abundance of experiences on reporting, she joined into CNN as a correspondent in Africa three years later. During this period, she threw herself into reporting the ethnic conflict, interviewed the refugee, and writing news day and night. (Video about she is interviewing refugee and taking photos for some African children who are as skinny as a pole) Her reporting not only reflected the true life in Africa, but also had a strong human touch. Consequently, she was awarded Pulitzer Prize in 2018, at her birthday of 30 years old. No one can deny she achieved the summit in the realm of journalism. (Video:she is receiving the prize). She was the kind of person who never satisfied with the status quo, thus she quitted the job in CNN and began creating her own company. Today, she has already hold two fashion magazines and one business newspaper in China. (Video about the CEO of the wall street journal,” she was honest and decisive. I am very glad to meet a so intelligent opponent.”) When she was 60 years old, she began to travel around world. Her footprint covered from Europe to South Africa, from Australia to the North Pole. (Video about her travel) And today, she came to our school to give a speech. Let’s welcome Summer!
ASSIGNMENT FOUR
Write three pitches that you and some classmates can actually produce with the time and resources available to you.
The audience will be English speaking You Tube viewers. Your pitch should offer them something they cannot see elsewhere. This means slice of life and human interest stories are OK, but try to come up with some hard issue pieces or stories related to breaking news as well. Foreigners love to hear about: The Olympics, counterfeit or dangerous products, the environment and global warming, martial arts, student trends, China's economy, interesting tourist destinations, and anything unusual or surprising. Think about a story you would like to hear about in another country, and try it here.
Also think about the big stories in the world, and look for a Chinese connection. Are there Iraqi students here? Does China have an Islamic insurgency? What do Chinese students think about the US presidential race? Who is in charge at the Palestian Embassy here now that the Palestinians have split amid civil war?
Your pitch should include the names of the people you plan to interview, and the shots you plan to include.
1 Food poisoning happens in Peking University result from the unbearably sanitation of the dining hall. Scene: deluges of students are set to hospital Interviewee: some poisoned students and the deputy of the Peking University. Plus I also want to interview some food safety officials to find out their implementation in this problem, and then appeal to pay close attention to the sanitation of the school’s dining hall. 2 Counterfeit certificate. Some rural women often sell counterfeit certificate under the pedestrian overpass. Scene: Holding a baby in her arms, a rural woman is selling sneaky a Counterfeit graduation certificate to a man. Interviewee: some residents around the overpass to prove those rural Women have sold counterfeit certificate for a long time. And I will also interview the related government official to find out their implementation in this problem. 3 1000 outstanding volunteers, from all around the world, who offered services for Olympics Games get together in Beijing for passing on experience to 10,0000 volunteers of the 2008 Beijing Olympics Games. Scene: They communicate Interviewee: the movement’s organizer and some volunteers.
