Nina Kim, a shining movie star, a successful entrepreneur and a generous charitarian has peacefully left us in her 80th year. The loss will bring the world into endless sorrow.
There is no other person who is more perfect for the word “legendary” than her. Born in a poor family, Nina had never thought of becoming an actress. However, when she joined an election in her 14th year for a part of a Spielberg’s movie just for fun, her unique quality and talent in acting attracted their attention and she got the part. Later that year, she won the best supporting actress award in Oscar and it was just a start.
Through her entire life, worldwide famous actress was not her only title. After she carried her 8th Oscar statuette back home, she ended her life as an actress and got married with a Korea actor Bae Yong Joon. Loving wife of Bae and qualified mother of two kids, “life could not be happier” as once she said. When people thought she would enjoy her life off screen, Nina got back into public sight. Not an actress this time, but an entrepreneur. She began to run her own entertainment company and also involved herself in charity business. And it proved to be a successful move.
Now she’s gone and people miss her so much. Maybe this charming lady will like to hear in the paradise that she’s always been lovingly remembered.
ASSIGNMENT FOUR
Write three pitches that you and some classmates can actually produce with the time and resources available to you.
The audience will be English speaking You Tube viewers. Your pitch should offer them something they cannot see elsewhere. This means slice of life and human interest stories are OK, but try to come up with some hard issue pieces or stories related to breaking news as well. Foreigners love to hear about: The Olympics, counterfeit or dangerous products, the environment and global warming, martial arts, student trends, China's economy, interesting tourist destinations, and anything unusual or surprising. Think about a story you would like to hear about in another country, and try it here.
Also think about the big stories in the world, and look for a Chinese connection. Are there Iraqi students here? Does China have an Islamic insurgency? What do Chinese students think about the US presidential race? Who is in charge at the Palestian Embassy here now that the Palestinians have split amid civil war?
Your pitch should include the names of the people you plan to interview, and the shots you plan to include.
