ASSIGNMENT THREE
Please paste the Obituary assignment here.
Today is a special day, as you know, it is the birthday of Lulu, a great woman in our times.
At the age of 70, she still took part in the team for expedition to antarctic. And she led a happy life there without any illness. There is no hint you can found on her face of her age. She kept such good shape and vitality that she always looks young. Before I declare today is her 75th birthday, I have heard many of you asking me if today is her 45th birthday.
I believe all of you know her past as a wonderful reporter of BBC. Because of her outstanding sense of news and always be the first one in the scene where a sensational event happened, she was honored as Royal Journalist by Prince William.
However, she has much more interests than being a reporter. She have an inborn affection to animals that she gave up her brilliant job and turn to be an explorer in Africa. The animals there excited her and she had another experience then as she said ' I feel calm and peaceful with them. I really feel myself as part of the nature.' Later on, she helped to promote the law of protecting animals by writing articles to media and her book Animals,Human and Nature.
Thanks to her great effort that we have the chance to share her past and her today, and we expect her future to be filled with more miracles.
ASSIGNMENT FOUR
Write three pitches that you and some classmates can actually produce with the time and resources available to you.
The audience will be English speaking You Tube viewers. Your pitch should offer them something they cannot see elsewhere. This means slice of life and human interest stories are OK, but try to come up with some hard issue pieces or stories related to breaking news as well. Foreigners love to hear about: The Olympics, counterfeit or dangerous products, the environment and global warming, martial arts, student trends, China's economy, interesting tourist destinations, and anything unusual or surprising. Think about a story you would like to hear about in another country, and try it here.
Also think about the big stories in the world, and look for a Chinese connection. Are there Iraqi students here? Does China have an Islamic insurgency? What do Chinese students think about the US presidential race? Who is in charge at the Palestian Embassy here now that the Palestinians have split amid civil war?
Your pitch should include the names of the people you plan to interview, and the shots you plan to include.
