Ladies and gentlemen,
Thanks for coming to the party that is held for Haze, my best friend. We got to know each other in middle school; to date our friendship has walked though 62 years. Today I would like to share with all of you the story of Ms Haze.
When I was about 13 years in middle school, Haze impressed me a great deal. She is really distinctive, smart and humorous. For example, Haze is so independent that she always made decisions on her own. She can realize exactly what she wanted and struggle persistently to achieve her goals. Challenging instructors and expressing her own opinions, she always insisted on what she thought was right and dealt with things in Haze’s style. But one thing is certain, Haze is crazy about sports. At that time, she decided she would make her future career have something to do with it. For so many years, her topics always stick to football, NBA, F1, tennis and so on... Haze majored in international journalism in university for the reason that sports is beyond border and she hoped to be a sports reporter. Graduated from CUC, she flied abroad to UK and was conferred master degree of arts for media and communication in university of London. After the elegant and intellectual girl came back, Haze entered CCTV-5, working as a correspondent as planned. She love her job. Broadcasting a lot of important games, keeping in touch with the most famous players worldwide, designing some popular programs, Haze absolutely stood out of others in her field. With rich experience and nice reputation, she jumped into several professional sports channel and earned her many awards and “an excellent female sport journalist and commentator”.
However, Haze thought that the most valuable memory for her were those numerable face-to-face interviews with big figures like Kimi Raikkonen, Kobe Bryant, Rafel Nadal…
Anyway, I take great pride of my friend and thank her for the happiness she brings to us. And one more thing which can by no means be ignored is Haze perfect marriage with Nicky, the handsome guy sitting beside her. So let’s welcome Nicky to say something……
ASSIGNMENT FOUR
Write three pitches that you and some classmates can actually produce with the time and resources available to you.
The audience will be English speaking You Tube viewers. Your pitch should offer them something they cannot see elsewhere. This means slice of life and human interest stories are OK, but try to come up with some hard issue pieces or stories related to breaking news as well. Foreigners love to hear about: The Olympics, counterfeit or dangerous products, the environment and global warming, martial arts, student trends, China's economy, interesting tourist destinations, and anything unusual or surprising. Think about a story you would like to hear about in another country, and try it here.
Also think about the big stories in the world, and look for a Chinese connection. Are there Iraqi students here? Does China have an Islamic insurgency? What do Chinese students think about the US presidential race? Who is in charge at the Palestian Embassy here now that the Palestinians have split amid civil war?
Your pitch should include the names of the people you plan to interview, and the shots you plan to include.
Pitch One
Interviewee: bosses of recreation grounds specially for homosexuals; some gays; workers who devote to AIDS prevention and cure
Story: In order to prevent AIDS, 19 recreation grounds run secretly for homosexuals come to sign an agreement that promises to help control the spread and contagion of AIDS. Those bosses will jointly publicize the knowledge on anti-AIDS in their places. Besides, they will cooperate with official organizations to take effective measures, like providing free condoms to the gays, to limit their dangerous behavior.
Pitch Two
Interviewee: girls who make abortion, doctors, parents
Story: Some hospitals says that a considerable large number of under age girls come to make abortion operation after this summer holidays. Some of them are single while some are accompanied by boyfriends. The age of those who make abortion tends to be younger and younger hence the danger becomes bigger and bigger. This phenomenon has been taken into account by whole society.
Pitch Three
Interviewee: a poor student whose family cannot afford the fees for university
Story: A student achieves high mark in Chinese college-entrance examination and thus gets a golden chance to study in one of the most famous university in China. However, his parents who are both laid-offs and living on lowest subsidy cannot afford his tuition fee. The boy decides to earn that money on his own by selling fresh vegetable and sending milk to subscribers. As luck would it have, a spokesman of China’s government hears his story and appeals the uni to enroll him at free charge. But, how about others in the some trouble?
