Eric Geng, the famous sports reporter and the owner of a sports media Group, died on July. 29th 2078, at the age of 92. Eric was the most successful sports reporter who is considered to be the model in sports reporting. With a dream to be a sports reporter, he came to Communication University of China to acquire the related knowledge. He started his career as a sports journalist in Titan Sports, which was the best sports media at that time. After a wonderful performance in reporting the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2010 South Africa World Cup, he gave a deep impression to Chinese reader and promoted to an advanced editor. The next 10 years, he appeared at all the big sports events all over the world including World Cup, Olympics, European Champion Cup, NBA finals. With the help of Rupert Murdoch, he established his own sports media group which became the first choice of sports funs. Now it shares a equal respect with ESPN, SKY TV and Canal+ Sport. It is a great pity he left this world. And we will memory him forever.

ASSIGNMENT FOUR
Write three pitches that you and some classmates can actually produce with the time and resources available to you.

The audience will be English speaking You Tube viewers. Your pitch should offer them something they cannot see elsewhere. This means slice of life and human interest stories are OK, but try to come up with some hard issue pieces or stories related to breaking news as well. Foreigners love to hear about: The Olympics, counterfeit or dangerous products, the environment and global warming, martial arts, student trends, China's economy, interesting tourist destinations, and anything unusual or surprising. Think about a story you would like to hear about in another country, and try it here.

Also think about the big stories in the world, and look for a Chinese connection. Are there Iraqi students here? Does China have an Islamic insurgency? What do Chinese students think about the US presidential race? Who is in charge at the Palestian Embassy here now that the Palestinians have split amid civil war?

Your pitch should include the names of the people you plan to interview, and the shots you plan to include.

Beijing Olumpic Games : Rogue
The development of Titan sports( the biggest sports media in China): Qu youyuan (ceo of Titan sports)
the transportation system of Beijing

ASSIGNMENT FOUR: THIS IS INADEQUATE AND COUNTS AS INCOMPLETE.

REVISED VERSION:
1. What is the ticket selling status of Beijing Olympic Games? Is there any attention that foreigner need to pay attention to if they want to buy the ticket? As we all know, the Phrase 1 in ticket selling already finished, and the 2nd Phrase will begin in October, what should people do to make sure they can get tickets in the coming period? Interviewee: Beijing Olympic Committee official

2. As China’s economy grows rapidly; it has already been the focus over the world. But behind its GDP, what has the economy growth bring to ordinary citizen’s life? A higher living standard or a more tough life? We will interview some most ordinary people to find the answer.

3. China is the largest country in population, but Chinese football team ranks 80th in the FIFA world ranking. Why can’t Chinese play football well, especially comparing to their Olympic sports level? I want to find the answers by a long term inspection and careful research.

ASSIGNEMNT FIVE:

From judging the "pig news", we've learned that when we analyse a news story, first we should clear about the source of of quotation and the accuracy of the statistics. Then we may judge is there any logic problems, and whether we can be persuade to believe the conclusion the author made by the facts and detailed the story provides.

In terms of bias and fairness, we strongly think that the report's sources are mostly one-sided.
He did quote information from the Chinese government side, but mostly statistics, while figures don't really speak for itself if you don't give an explanation. Like the figures of dead pigs. There are plenty of Chinese government announcement and press releases. Why he just cited certain figures?
We think western style of reporting seems very fair, with all the piling of facts and figures and quotes. But actually it's not necessary the case. The angle of choosing materials makes a lot of difference.
For the detailed analysis the reporter turned to organizations outside of China, or at least people with the opposite view to the Chinese government. Why didn't he cited more explanation from the Chinese government side?
Hence, we do believe the writer does have bias to a certain extent.
