China's pollution problems are getting even worse. Some local officials are reluctant to help and sometimes even work against the central government's environmental protection efforts. With a cost of more than $200 billion a year, roughly 10% of the GDP, the government still needs a better legal protection for grassroots groups to clean up the environment, a top official says.

ASSIGNMENT THREE
Please paste the Obituary assignment here.

Emily Tang, editor in chief of Vague , age 96, died Dec. 16, 2081, at her home in Hongkong. She is survived by her husband Vito Ma, a well-known anchorman in CCTV. They met while studying at Communication University of China and were wed in 2011.
Emily, who was born in Nanjing on Oct. 1, 1985,was considered as one of the leading authorities in fashion. She started working at Vague in 2010, after having devoted herself to this company for five years, her keen insight into fad, active working style and aggressive behavior finally got her promoted as a big shot in this famous magazing . She sacrificed a lot for her career which in her understanding, was totally worth it. Some of the girls would stand in awe before her while others would keep criticizing her among the fellows. Of course, as usual, she can't care less about the rumor or the comments. She seems as strong-minded as ever.
She retired in 2045, and for the rest of time she and her husband made their home in Hongkong. Every year Emily traveled around the country to make presentations at universities for the students who major in media work.
Her besanu was held at her residence in Beijing, where she lived, studied and did the business.
All invitees can pay tributes to her.

ASSIGNMENT FOUR
Write three pitches that you and some classmates can actually produce with the time and resources available to you.

The audience will be English speaking You Tube viewers. Your pitch should offer them something they cannot see elsewhere. This means slice of life and human interest stories are OK, but try to come up with some hard issue pieces or stories related to breaking news as well. Foreigners love to hear about: The Olympics, counterfeit or dangerous products, the environment and global warming, martial arts, student trends, China's economy, interesting tourist destinations, and anything unusual or surprising. Think about a story you would like to hear about in another country, and try it here.

Also think about the big stories in the world, and look for a Chinese connection. Are there Iraqi students here? Does China have an Islamic insurgency? What do Chinese students think about the US presidential race? Who is in charge at the Palestian Embassy here now that the Palestinians have split amid civil war?

Your pitch should include the names of the people you plan to interview, and the shots you plan to include.

1 The annual Mid-autumn Festival is approaching, it is a time that all Chinese try to get together with their family members. Moon Cakes are the traditional food for the day. Although many families have excess moon cakes, there are other people who don't have any moon cakes for the festival, for example, lonely elders, street kids and others who are in poverty. i'd like to interview these people and find out their feelings in such a special festival, and also i want to interview some officials in the welfare institutes and find out wether thay have any measures towards this matter.

2 Food is the first necessity of the people, Nowadays, more and more food poisoning cases have taken place in universities and the restaurants arround them. Not long ago, there was one case happened here. some students got ill after eating in a restaurant near our school, and the restaurant was shut down immediately. i'd like to interview the victim students to find out their feelings towards this incident, and also i want to interview some food safety officials to find out their implementation in this problem.

3 Traffic would be a major challenge for Beijing to host the 2008 Olympic Games.Though many new roads have been built or streets been widened over recent years especially after Beijing won the 2008 Olympics, Beijingers are also buying more cars, among which the students have taken up some proportion. The Beijing Municipal Traffic Commission has made a proposal according to which Beijing in the next few years may raise the charges for license plates of private cars, and also impose a so-called "road congestion fee" on private car owners. towards this matter,i want to interview some students who have private cars to find out their attitude .

ASSIGNMENT 5 Missing
Basically in my opinion, “Pig Disease in China Worries the World-Lack of Data Impedes Research” is a comprehensive report, yet some weaknesses due to the correspondent's vague view of the report make us confusing about the whole event. Trough heated discussion on class, our group determined she focused mainly on what the title says, "the swine disease threating the whole world comes from China". But several details she lists do not support her piont of view. For instance, at the top of the 5th page, the first two paragraphes about Vietnam's swine disease reveal that China does not contributes to it, thus it is not a strong detail to back her view.
So this report leaves us a question which bothers me for quite a long time - should a story have its tendency towards what the correspondet holds, or should it be just accurate and objective? We know there is no absolute objective on news reporting based on different perception and need of various area or country, yet I want to know a correspodent should list resources selectively, or all?
