Beijing(AP)------The European Union's chief is warning China to improve market access and protect intellectual property rights. If China doesn't achieved that,it'll receive strong objection from Europe.
An EU Trade Commissioner says since China joined WTO,its economy has been growing very fast, and this also means it has greater responsibilities to obey the trade rules.
ASSIGNMENT THREE
Please paste the Obituary assignment here.
When she acts as a statesman, many people are impressed by her calmness and wiseness;but when she turns to be a common person,I'm sure more people will be impressed by her noises, laughs and madness. She is my best friend------Cherry Yang,a perfect mixture of quietness and activeness.
It has been 50 years since we first met.In my mind, she is always speaking and laughing loudly, doing silly and mad things. So I was really shocked and puzzled when I knew such a girl finally chose politics and became a civil servant.
Her reason was very simple:she wanted to try something serious and hoped that everybody could see another Cherry.
Time proves everything:she gradually receives people's approval, appreciation and respect, then we see a successful statesman on the political stage. Her achievements have proved her choice.
However, when she plays with us,she is still making ridiculous jokes and doing funny things, although she has been a mother of two children.
Sometimes I was wondering why her life is full of happiness and brightness, maybe just because she always does what she wants to.
On her 70th birthday,I have some words for her:hey girl, you've done excellent, keep doing it!
ASSIGNMENT FOUR
Write three pitches that you and some classmates can actually produce with the time and resources available to you.
The audience will be English speaking You Tube viewers. Your pitch should offer them something they cannot see elsewhere. This means slice of life and human interest stories are OK, but try to come up with some hard issue pieces or stories related to breaking news as well. Foreigners love to hear about: The Olympics, counterfeit or dangerous products, the environment and global warming, martial arts, student trends, China's economy, interesting tourist destinations, and anything unusual or surprising. Think about a story you would like to hear about in another country, and try it here.
Also think about the big stories in the world, and look for a Chinese connection. Are there Iraqi students here? Does China have an Islamic insurgency? What do Chinese students think about the US presidential race? Who is in charge at the Palestian Embassy here now that the Palestinians have split amid civil war?
Your pitch should include the names of the people you plan to interview, and the shots you plan to include.
1 Recently China Tennis Open is taking place in Beijing, which attracted many foreign journalists. One of my roommates----Lynn became a volunteer, offering information to foreigners . I can interview her about what she experienced during this time.
2 Now many Chinese students are fascinated by the Korean,Japanese and American series.I can interview some of them :why do they like watching foreign series instead of Chinese series? do this have effect on the relationships between China and those countries?
3 We are facing graduation now, since everybody has a lot of things to do,how should we arrange our time, spending more time on the daily lessons or on our own things?should teachers still arrange many homeworks for us?
ASSIGNMENT FIVE------PIG DISEASE
BIAS
1. The paragraph of vaccine Her reason is very persuasive, but she leaves out two points:
(1) Did other countries, including America, make money from vaccines when there was an epidemic first broke out in their realm?
(2) Did other countries insist on the remaining of the patents and royalties of the vaccine they invented? Is it a convention for all countries?
2. According to the article, it's likely that China would rather delay the finding of the cure than share the tissue samples in order to make a fortune from the vaccine. (Is this a right conclusion? ) But the point is, how much money will China lose due to the death of bunches of pigs? Is it less than the money made from the vaccine? Or more? Is it worth for China to do this? Obviously the author omits it.
About Reporting Methods
1. To express one's own idea by selecting materials, though all the materials are true.
2. Using eloquent evidence to express ideas.
3. Finding enough sources and related stories.
4. To introduce the situation is far from enough, we should add the deep analysis to the superficial phenomenon.
My personal views
A: There is an old saying in China which is similar to " Do not wash your dirty linen in public" . Maybe this old tradition contributes to China's reluctance to publicize the outbreaks of SARS and bird flu.
B: In recent years, China and its media increasing realize that there is no good in hiding this kind of information. So more and more related rules are carried out to ensure the transparence of catastrophic news. Though we still lag behind, but we are making progress.
C: The functions of media vary from country to country. They are the objective outcomes of each country's specific history and coincident with the inner structure of the society. From the day China's modern media were born, they are the organs of parties. They are not used to make profits, but to publicize certain party's policy and creed. So the media should never be supposed to harm the party's interest. Since the Communist Party is the sole one in the saddle, if the media criticized the government too severely, maybe the whole country will become turbulent.
D:We Chinese are taught to love our country even we are quite small. Patriotism is a character we value high. Thus, we cannot stand any slander about China. Even the American news is telling the truth, as this pig-thing, we are reluctant to accept the truch. We just can't. China, which is ruled by Communist Party of China now, is our belief. We love China, so we support CPC.
E: Each country has its own history and tradition, why they all should accord to America's standard? Who gives America the right to act like the monarch of the world?
