China finished building the Three Gorges dam across the Yangtze River on Saturday, a key milestone for the world’s largest hydroelectric project.
The dam was capable to produce electricity, regulate flooded waters, and prevent 15 million people on Yangtze River and their property from suffering damages.
Environmentalists and engineers have warned the reservoir risks still exist, as well as a growing disparity between the rich and poor.

ASSIGNMENT THREE

Please paste the Obituary assignment here.

ASSIGNMENT FOUR
Write three pitches that you and some classmates can actually produce with the time and resources available to you.

The audience will be English speaking You Tube viewers. Your pitch should offer them something they cannot see elsewhere. This means slice of life and human interest stories are OK, but try to come up with some hard issue pieces or stories related to breaking news as well. Foreigners love to hear about: The Olympics, counterfeit or dangerous products, the environment and global warming, martial arts, student trends, China's economy, interesting tourist destinations, and anything unusual or surprising. Think about a story you would like to hear about in another country, and try it here.

Also think about the big stories in the world, and look for a Chinese connection. Are there Iraqi students here? Does China have an Islamic insurgency? What do Chinese students think about the US presidential race? Who is in charge at the Palestian Embassy here now that the Palestinians have split amid civil war?

Your pitch should include the names of the people you plan to interview, and the shots you plan to include.

NO.1:
TOPIC:
Mysterious Chamber Discovered in The Forbidden City and Open to The Public for The First Time

Details: The mysterious chamber is full of chemicals which is used to protect the ancient relics in the Ming Dynasty.Citizens used to thought it was a secrect room to kill the criminals and the place of death sentence. However, no one is permitted to get into it for a long time. So the final discoveray of the truth and the real function of the chamber must be a suprise to the public. It must be a good event to cover which can attract the foreigners' eyes.

Plan: I'd like to interview some vistors home and abroad, professors studying in the major of chemical, historians who are familiar with the history, architecture engineers.
Shot: The scenary of the Forbidden City, the crowed of vistors gathering outside the door of the mysterious chamber.

NO.2:
TOPIC:
Foreingers' Way of Celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival on September 25 in Beijing

Details:
This traditional Chinese festival might be a very good event to cover to let the foreingers know more about Chinese culture. It is a topic which can attract the domestic and international people's eyeball , so I think it is worthy to be made into a programme to let the Chinese culture going aboard.

Plan:I will interview some craftsman who is good at making Mid-Autumn lights, the moon-cake seller, students and their relatives who will reunion in Mid-Autumn Festival.
Shot: Some foreingers eating moon cakes, the crowed supermarket selling the moon cakes, the Chinese peoples' traditional way of watching the moon under the trees in the open air.

No.3:
TOPIC: Chinese University Students Permitted to Get Married

Details: The marriage should be a topic that everyone will experience, no matter the Chinese youths or the foreingers. So, it is a daily life news which is related to all man and woman's life. But when it comes to the university students in China, it will be a hot topic to discuss. And this phenomenon is not only worthwhile for the Chinese students to talk about , but also very attractive to those exchange students from other countries and those China experts. The questions should be listed out :Is this law suitable? Is this regulation ridiculous?

Plan: I will interview the university students, and those exchange students from abroad, and the parents and teachers, the law makers.
Shot: The couples who are getting married ( two university students or one of them is still stduty in university), the parents and relatives are gathering in the party.
